“I left in 2000, so it’s been a couple of times,” Lee said. “And then in 2016, we decided, you know what? Let’s go out on a high note here and let it rip and not run this thing into the ground.”

Lee shared that the band wanted to avoid the fate of slowly fizzling out and ending up at underwhelming gigs, such as county fairs. They aimed to end on a high note, preserving their legacy before it could fade away.

A Legal Farewell with a Twist

This wasn't just lip service. Back in 2014, Mötley Crüe made headlines with a rock 'n' roll rarity – a legally binding "Cessation of Touring Agreement." This document was signed by all members at a press conference in Los Angeles, barring any performances under the Mötley Crüe name post-2015. Their farewell tour wrapped with a bang on New Year's Eve 2015 at the Staples Center in LA, ending with their anthem "Home Sweet Home." This marked a poignant goodbye that was even immortalized in a concert film.

However, just like an unexpected plot twist in a Hollywood blockbuster, the band couldn't resist the allure of the stage. Despite their formal retirement, they reunited for The Stadium Tour after a five-year hiatus. Vince Neil shared that the prospect of playing stadiums was too exciting to resist. “They said, ‘We’re gonna get together and do some stadiums.’ And I was, like, ‘I thought it’d be fun,'” Neil said.
