The new series of Celebrity Traitors is set to kick off on Thursday, October 1, with a fresh lineup of famous faces arriving at the castle. Viewers can expect the usual mix of alliances, accusations and cliffhanger moments as contestants try to outsmart one another and avoid being labelled a traitor.
Before you pick your winner for series two, here’s a down-to-earth look at one of the contestants making waves on the show – comedian Joe Lycett.
Joe Lycett began his stand-up journey in 2009 and quickly made a name for himself, winning the Chortle Student Comedian of the Year. That early recognition helped launch a busy career on the comedy circuit.
He’s best known for a playful, observational style that translated well from small venues to national TV appearances and panel shows.
Over the years Joe has popped up on a range of popular television formats, including 8 Out of 10 Cats, Celebrity Juice, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, and Would I Lie to You? Those appearances cemented his reputation as a quick-witted panel regular.
He also took part in the fourth series of Channel 4’s Taskmaster, sharing the roster with the likes of Mel Giedroyc, Hugh Dennis, Lolly Adefope and Noel Fielding.
"Fans are excited to see Joe bring his cheeky humour to the castle – he’s a natural at turning everyday annoyances into TV gold."
Joe has moved beyond stand-up to present a range of shows. In 2019 he became the host of The Great British Sewing Bee, following the programme’s established tone while adding his own brand of humour.
He later took over hosting duties on Travel Man from Richard Ayoade in 2021, bringing his comedic perspective to the travel series format.
In 2019 Joe launched Joe Lycett’s Got Your Back, a consumer rights show where he uses humour to tackle big companies such as banks and airlines and fight for everyday customers. His mix of comedy and consumer advocacy has been a distinctive part of his public profile.
More recently, in 2023 he started hosting Late Night Lycett, a comedy variety show that blends interviews with sketches and stand-up segments, giving him a dedicated platform for his wit and interviews with guests.
Joe also appeared in the first series of Last One Laughing UK alongside fellow comedians including Bob Mortimer, Rob Beckett and Judi Love, showing his knack for ensemble comedy challenges.
His TV portfolio covers everything from panel shows to variety formats, underlining his versatility in studio and unscripted settings.
Joe has been heard on many radio programmes and has stood in for established presenters. He deputised for Rylan Clark-Neal on Rylan on Saturday for BBC Radio 2 and filled in on Sara Cox’s drive-time show in 2019, expanding his presence across broadcast media.
With that mix of stand-up, hosting and broadcast experience, Joe arrives at the Celebrity Traitors castle as a familiar face with a mischievous streak.
