Amanda Righetti has been a familiar face in Hollywood for over two decades, and her journey is anything but ordinary. Now stepping into the spotlight with her role in 'Scarpetta', she’s channeling a new kind of energy. Based on Patricia Cornwell’s bestselling crime novels, 'Scarpetta' promises the kind of drama that can rival any Malibu-style saga. Righetti takes on the challenge of playing the youthful version of Dorothy, a character brought to life by none other than Jamie Lee Curtis. This role required a combination of transformation and collaboration to unravel Dorothy's complex past.
In true Hollywood fashion, beauty played a crucial part in her portrayal. Inspired by late-’90s icons like Pamela Anderson and capturing the early-’90s vibe of Mariah Carey's hair, Righetti explored her glam side. She also discovered new favorites, like Lady Gaga’s Haus Labs, which became a part of her performance toolkit. "Dorothy’s visage is her armor and mask from the world," she revealed, adding that it was through the wardrobe and glam process she truly connected with the character.
“Overwhelmed with joy! It was an amazing feeling to land this show, to have the opportunity to be a part of such an iconic book series and to be included among such legendary talent.”
Righetti also shared how she worked closely with Jamie Lee Curtis to ensure a seamless portrayal of Dorothy across different timelines. "We spoke about Dorothy’s backstory and ideas about what makes her tick," she said. "I studied Jamie’s work and watched dailies of her scenes with Nicole Kidman to see what behaviors I could match."
Working alongside an ensemble of accomplished actors has only fueled Righetti's passion. "It was an incredible experience to be included with such talented individuals," she shared, soaking up the SoCal summer energy on set. "It raises the bar and sets the tone for the work ethic.”
Reflecting on her career, which started at the tender age of 14, Righetti has learned a lot about self-image and beauty. Her early breakout role on 'The O.C.' taught her the importance of patience and savoring life's fleeting moments. "Self-image is developed through self-reflection," she noted, wishing she could tell her teenage self to "drown out all the noise and to love and trust herself."
Through it all, Amanda Righetti has found confidence in self-awareness and trusting her instincts. And as she continues to navigate Hollywood’s ever-changing landscape, she remains grounded, embracing wellness rituals like Epsom salt baths to stay balanced and focused. With 'Scarpetta' set to hit screens, Righetti's journey is only getting more captivating.
