Sorry, Ariana fans, but the pop diva and actress won't be lighting up the red carpet at the Actor Awards this Sunday. Despite snagging a nomination for her role in "Wicked: For Good," Ariana's schedule is too packed with rehearsals for her upcoming tour. The Grammy-winning artist is warming up her vocal cords for the Eternal Sunshine tour, which is set to kick off with a splash in June.
The buzz around Ariana's performance as Glinda in "Wicked: For Good" is still soaring high. Though the film was snubbed at the Oscars, critics couldn't stop raving. Alongside her dynamic co-star, Cynthia Erivo, Ariana brought the magic of Oz to life, earning nods from both the Critics Choice and Golden Globe Awards.
“Ariana’s juggling a lot right now, and we totally respect her decision to focus on the music,” shared a source close to the star.
But don't fret, fans – you'll get to enjoy "Wicked: For Good" when it lands on Peacock this March.
After her tour, Ariana plans to explore more acting opportunities, with the Ben Stiller comedy "Focker In-Law" on her radar. She'll also reunite with her "Wicked" co-star Jonathan Bailey in a London revival of "Sunday in the Park with George." While Ariana's not attending the awards, Kristen Bell is set to host, and the ceremony will be streaming on Netflix, so you can catch all the glitz from your couch.
Ariana's decision to focus on her tour means missing out on the glamour of the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in LA on March 1. As she puts it, another tour might not happen for a "long, long, long, long time," which makes this concert series all the more special.
