Bad Bunny Caught in Legal Battle Over Voice Recording

Bad Bunny, the chart-topping Latin rapper whose real name is Benito Martinez Ocasio, is facing some serious legal heat. He's at the center of a $20 million lawsuit filed in Puerto Rico, alleging unauthorized use of a voice recording. Tainaly Y. Serrano Rivera claims her voice is featured without consent in two of Bad Bunny's tracks – "Solo de Mi" from his 2018 album X100pre and the upcoming 2025 release "EoO" from Debri Tirar Mas Fotos.

The voice recording in question includes a phrase that has become synonymous with Bad Bunny's brand: "Mira, puñeta, no me quiten el perrero," which translates to "Listen, damn it, don't take away my vibe." Rivera alleges that this phrase has been used extensively by Bad Bunny to sell merchandise and play during concerts, all without her permission. La Paciencia, the rapper's long-time producer, reportedly asked Rivera to record the line back in 2018, but she insists no formal contract was ever signed.

"The phrase has become so closely associated with Bad Bunny that its unauthorized use is a clear violation of my rights," Rivera remarked in the lawsuit.

History of Legal Challenges

The lawsuit against Bad Bunny and his record label, Rimas Entertainment, demands a cool $20 million for violation of privacy and publicity rights. This isn't the first time the "Dakiti" hitmaker has been sued. In fact, nearly three years ago, he faced a $40 million lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend, Carliz de La Cruz Hernández, over another unauthorized voice clip. Hernandez, who shares the same legal team with Rivera, claims the phrase "Bad Bunny, baby" in his songs "Pa Ti" and "Dos Mil 16" was used without her consent.

Both Rivera and Hernandez are represented by attorneys Jose Marxuach Fagot and Joanna Bocanegra, and together they are challenging the music titan in court. Bad Bunny and his label are expected to respond to these allegations in May, as they navigate this high-stakes courtroom drama.
