American megastar Brad Pitt isn't backing down in the courtroom saga against his ex-wife, the illustrious Angelina Jolie. His latest move? A legal push to uncover secret conversations the actress had about selling her piece of their shared French winery, Château Miraval.
On October 27, Pitt’s legal team filed a motion with the Los Angeles County Superior Court, aiming to obtain 22 records of undisclosed discussions from Jolie. These are said to be linked to her sale of her stake in the vineyard, a romantic locale where the former couple even tied the knot back in 2014.
“To this day, the children and I have never again set foot on the property, given its connection to the painful events leading to the divorce,” noted Jolie in court papers, reflecting on the deep personal ties to Château Miraval.
Bought by the couple in 2008, Château Miraval became a symbol of their union. But after Jolie, now 50, sold her portion in 2021, Pitt sued, claiming she breached an agreement to not sell without mutual consent. Jolie argues that no formal arrangement existed beyond a verbal understanding, and her motion to dismiss Pitt's claims was recently denied.
A trial date remains unset, but Pitt anticipates a 15-day jury trial, while Jolie expects it might stretch beyond that. This legal clash follows their 2016 breakup, with divorce finalized last year. The couple shares six children, including adopted and biological, all of whom have remained away from the vineyard since the split.
Jolie recently expressed her frustration, highlighting that after their separation, she left Pitt in "control (and full residency)" of their family homes, including the cherished vineyard, in an attempt to ease post-divorce tensions. However, the property remains a painful reminder of their past, as it was where they celebrated many significant moments.
