Unveiling California's Solar Panel Shock

In a dramatic twist that feels straight out of a Hollywood movie, an investigation has reportedly unearthed nearly $1 billion originally intended for California's solar panel program being rerouted to Democrat causes. The California Department of Government Efficiency, also known as CAL DOGE, claims the funds meant for Solar on Multifamily Affordable Housing (SOMAH) were instead funneled into Democrat voter registration and activism efforts.

CAL DOGE Sounds the Alarm

Leaders of CAL DOGE argue that these funds, collected from gas taxes and electric bills meant for solar panels on apartments, have been misappropriated. A report by the New York Post detailed that the SOMAH program, established by AB 693 in 2015, has only completed 269 projects for $72 million, despite being funded up to $100 million annually through 'cap and trade auctions proceeds.'

“$928 million has been stolen. Your money. Do you know where it’s gone? Voter registration. By leftist groups supporting the Democratic Party. It is an absolute scandal. Just the latest in the amount of money that’s been stolen from you,” Republican gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton declared.

Steve Hilton's Quest for Accountability

Republican gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton is calling for transparency and answers on the whereabouts of the remaining funds. He emphasizes that this money rightfully belongs to taxpayers and alleges it has been misused for partisan political activities. In his mission to expose fraud, Hilton, through CAL DOGE, announced its dedication to revealing government inefficiencies and fraud.

Political Tides and Future Moves

The New York Post's investigation highlights that the California Environmental Justice Alliance Action, a group associated with SOMAH, is a project under Tides Advocacy. This organization is accused of publishing voter guides and mobilizing voters of color for the 2024 elections, alongside endorsing 24 progressive candidates for the California legislature.

In late January, Steve Hilton launched CAL DOGE via his campaign site with a mission to “expose corruption, fraud, waste, and abuse in the Californian government.” He claims past investigations revealed other scandals, including $370 million in Cannabis Tax money misused similarly.

As the race for California governor heats up, Hilton is leading in the polls, stirring the pot with his revelations and pushing for systemic reforms to cut bureaucratic bloat and curb government waste.
