The fast-paced and much-loved BBC travel series, Celebrity Race Across The World, is about to cross the finish line as the globe-trotting celebs make their way to the final checkpoint in Central America. After weeks of excitement and suspense, viewers are eagerly anticipating the conclusion of this epic adventure on Thursday, December 11.
Throughout the series, four pairs of daring celebrities embarked on a challenging 5,900 km journey from the charming Caribbean island of Isla Mujeres in Mexico to the rugged and far-flung Península de La Guajira in Colombia. The route was not without its hiccups – at one point, the BBC had to change their game plan and allow the participants to fly due to looming strikes in Medellin, Colombia.
Among the intrepid travelers are presenter Anita Rani with her father, Bal; siblings Roman and Harleymoon Kemp; actor Dylan Llewellyn with his mother, Jackie; and DJ Tyler West alongside actress Molly Rainford. As the finale looms, Tyler opened up about the tumultuous journey, particularly their time in Costa Rica, where the jungle offered a rather "traumatic" experience.
“I still have nightmares about Costa Rica. I can't, that's full trauma.”
Molly described the close quarters in the Costa Rican wilderness, comparing it to a "I'm a Celeb" experience. Sleeping in hammocks, surrounded by nets for insect protection, they faced their fears in a true survival scenario.
Even through the moments of stress and sleepless nights, Tyler revealed that the biggest challenge was managing their budget. "It's maths, and it always, and forever will be maths," he noted, underscoring the importance of financial planning in their race.
Despite the financial stress and unexpected jungle drama, Tyler reminisced about the fun moments shared on this race across the globe. Adapting to the unique travel style, he humorously remarked how they transformed into "Tyler and Molly 2.0," thinking they were the next Bear Grylls.
Catch the thrilling conclusion of Celebrity Race Across The World as the stars race to claim victory on BBC One, Thursday, December 11, at 8pm.
