Chris Hemsworth's High-Speed Transformation

Chris Hemsworth has spilled the beans on a surprising new skill he picked up while filming his latest movie, Crime 101. The 42-year-old Aussie actor, known for his role as the mighty Thor, has revealed that the film forever changed the way he drives.

Learning from the Streets

In a chat with Discussing Film, Hemsworth shared, “It was fantastic and a lot of fun. One of the best parts of the job is being able to learn a new skill.” Despite his past experiences on screen as a chauffeur, this time around, Hemsworth had to handle the wheel in a bold new way.

The film's director, Bart Layton, insisted on authenticity for the driving scenes. Hemsworth explained, “It was important to the director for it to be the case that it's not stunt drivers and green screens, just getting out there on the streets of LA, we don’t tend to see that anymore.”

Hemsworth and the Adrenaline-Fueled Role

This role was a departure from Hemsworth's previous work, pushing him to drive with an aggressive edge characteristic of his Crime 101 character. The actor admitted he had "never driven a car to this extent with the sort of aggressive nature that his character drives and there were high-speed chases, and so there needed to be a messiness to it."

Set against the iconic backdrop of Los Angeles' sprawling streets, the film's plot revolves around a star thief and an insurance broker teaming up for a monumental heist, with a dedicated detective hot on their trail.

The Impact of 'Crime 101'

Released on February 13, 2026, the film, featuring a star-studded cast including Monica Barbaro, Barry Keoghan, Halle Berry, and Mark Ruffalo, has already made waves, grossing $28.3 million worldwide. A SoCal summer blockbuster in the waiting, it was shot on a $90 million budget and showcases a thrilling mix of raw car chases and classic heist drama.
