Sean 'Diddy' Combs, the iconic hip-hop mogul, has been snapped spending some quality time with former NBA player Sebastian Telfair inside the confines of FCI Fort Dix. The 55-year-old rapper, known for his legendary music career and Bad Boy Records, is currently serving a four-year sentence after being convicted in July of charges related to transportation for prostitution.
Two candid photos, recently obtained by TMZ, reveal Combs in the prison yard, engaging in what looks to be light-hearted conversation with other inmates. Among these inmates is none other than Sebastian Telfair, the 40-year-old basketball prodigy and fellow Brooklyn native. According to Telfair's publicist, their interaction was one of mutual recognition and camaraderie as they reflected on their shared roots and current circumstances.
“It’s a rare moment of connection between two well-known figures, both adapting to life on the inside," commented Telfair’s publicist, capturing the unique nature of their meeting.
Sebastian Telfair was once a rising star in the basketball world, having been drafted straight out of high school in 2004. His career took him to several notable teams including the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers. However, his later years were marred by legal troubles, culminating in his current six-month sentence for violating the terms of his supervised release in a fraud case. With this sentence, Telfair is nearing the halfway mark of his term at Fort Dix.
In 2023, Telfair, along with other former NBA players, was charged with defrauding the league’s health and welfare benefit plan. Originally sentenced to probation, he found himself back behind bars this year, reminding fans of the harsh realities many athletes face post-career.
Diddy's transfer to Fort Dix from Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center was reportedly at his request, aiming to be closer to family and to take part in a drug rehabilitation program. His projected release date of May 8, 2028, hinges on good behavior and credits earned through the First Step Act, promoting rehabilitation efforts.
FCI Fort Dix, operational since 1992, is a low-security federal correctional institution housing roughly 4,000 inmates, starkly contrasting with the smaller MDC in Brooklyn. Combs’ current incarceration is a significant chapter in his life, marking the first time in 25 years he has lived sober, a fact he admitted during court proceedings.
