Unexpected Detours on the Celebrity Trail

In a twist straight out of a Hollywood script, the celebrities on BBC's "Celebrity Race Across The World" found themselves breaking the program's rules thanks to an unexpected filming ban. As revealed in the latest episode, their journey was interrupted, leading to some high-flying drama.

The Unexpected Flight Over Nicaragua

The adventure began in the sun-soaked streets of Mexico, with stars like "Strictly Come Dancing" favorites Tyler West and Molly Rainford, presenters Roman Kemp and his sister Harleymoon, "Derry Girls" actor Dylan Llewellyn with his mom Jackie, and Anita Rani alongside her dad Bal, tackling the challenge of traversing Central America without modern-day luxuries like smartphones or hefty bank accounts.

But things didn't go quite as planned when they reached the third checkpoint in Honduras – the official halfway mark. A sudden change came through a text message, forcing contestants to board a plane instead of continuing by land or sea. "It is not possible for the race to continue through Nicaragua. Teams must fly to Liberia where the race will resume," the message read.

"As permission to film in the neighboring country of Nicaragua was not granted, teams will resume the race just 90km away from its border, in Liberia, Costa Rica," the BBC narrator explained.

Drama Unfolds and Spirits Stay High

While the race's course was adjusted, the energy of the stars didn't waver. Tyler and Molly remained in the lead, closely followed by Anita and her dad Bal. Meanwhile, Dylan recovered from feeling unwell and was quick to catch up with the group. Roman and Harleymoon, however, found themselves lagging behind, arriving last at the checkpoint.

The production team had previously highlighted the breathtaking journey stretching from the idyllic Isla Mujeres in Mexico to the stunning Península de La Guajira in Colombia. Despite all the hiccups, the race keeps its promise of testing relationships and resilience on this 5,900km challenge.

"Celebrity Race Across The World" airs every Thursday at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer. Keep an eye out for more twists and turns as these stars continue their epic journey.
