Jennette McCurdy, once a beloved face on the youth-centric show iCarly, has experienced her fair share of Hollywood romances. Perhaps most notably, Jennette shared a significant relationship with Paul Glaser, the script manager from iCarly, who was 13 years her senior. This relationship, which started behind the scenes of the hit show, quickly became the talk of the town due to its noticeable age difference. During an interview with Vulture back in 2015, Jennette addressed the public's reaction, saying, "People online would make very rude comments about him and say, 'What a creep to have had an eye on her for so long.' But they didn't know the whole story."
"That's an instance when I really resented social media because I thought, these people are making it hard on me," Jennette expressed about the online discussions surrounding her relationship.
Fast forward to the present day, Jennette McCurdy's relationship with Glaser has sparked speculation about her latest novel, "Half His Age." Although she has been tight-lipped about the book's muse, many see parallels with her past romance with Paul. On the popular podcast Call Her Daddy, she candidly revealed, "[We met] through work. There's nowhere to meet anybody else. All I did was work." Reflecting on those days, Jennette shared, "I think I was 18 by the time he started working on the show. I think. I'm not sure about that. It's possible I was younger, but I was most likely 18."
Looking back, Jennette uncovered several "red flags" during their time together. She elaborated, "He would show me movies that he thought I would like…which I did not like, but I pretended to like. He would play me music that I did not like, but I pretended to like." Despite these signals, she was drawn into the relationship, feeling flattered by his compliments. Now, with the wisdom of hindsight, she admits feeling a bit foolish about the entire affair, "He was like, 'You're so mature. I can't talk to anyone this way. I can't believe how smart you are.' Like, are you kidding me? I was such an idiot. I'm so embarrassed."
Jennette's recollection of her past highlights the complexity of navigating young love in Hollywood’s limelight. Her story adds a touch of human vulnerability to the often glamorous narrative of celebrity relationships.
