In a moving tribute, Jimmy Kimmel has opened up about the recent passing of his longtime friend and band leader, Cleto Escobedo III. Less than a week after Escobedo passed away at the age of 59, Kimmel took to social media to share insights into his friend’s final days and how he plans to honor his memory.
Kimmel revealed that Escobedo spent his final days at a Los Angeles medical center, receiving treatment for an undisclosed health issue. The late band leader's legacy of kindness and generosity seems to have inspired Kimmel, who announced two fundraisers in honor of his friend. "Cleto was always kind and eager to help others," Kimmel wrote on Instagram. "As we mourn his loss, we have started two fundraisers to celebrate his life and give back."
“The first is for UCLA Medical Center where he received such incredible care. Together we can help vulnerable patients and families in need of financial assistance during hard times.”
In addition to supporting UCLA Medical Center, Kimmel is also directing funds to The Animal Foundation in Las Vegas, a nod to Escobedo’s passion for animals. "We want to honor his love of animals," Kimmel added, showing just how deeply he cherishes the memory of his dear friend. As a figure who brought so much joy through his music, Escobedo's spirit will live on through these charitable efforts.
