A young heroine has emerged in Oakley, California, and her name is Elizabeth "Lizzy" Morgan. At just ten years old, Lizzy is credited with saving her family from a devastating house fire that could have turned tragic. The blaze broke out early Tuesday morning, and thanks to Lizzy's quick thinking, all seven of her family members escaped unscathed.

According to a report by KTVU, the fire started at around 3:00 a.m., catching the family by surprise as they slept. Lizzy sprang into action after the house lost power, waking everyone up and alerting them to the danger.

"Lizzy got up, looked outside, and seen our house on fire," Nena Morgan, Lizzy's mother, explained, adding, "She immediately started screaming."

The Devastation and Loss

Though the family managed to escape safely, the fire consumed their home and claimed the lives of their pets – several dogs and a cat. "Everything's gone," Nena lamented, reflecting on the 14 years of memories lost in the flames, including irreplaceable photographs and wedding pictures.

The blaze sent towering flames that also brought down nearby power lines, complicating efforts by first responders to extinguish the fire. Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Jeff Burris noted that the exact cause is still under investigation but it seemed to have originated from the porch area.

Questions and Concerns

As the family copes with the aftermath, they remain haunted by unanswered questions. The Morgans expressed concerns about recent suspicious fires in their neighborhood, including a backyard fire at their home just two weeks prior. "Nobody knows why my backyard caught on fire in the middle of the day," Nena said, adding her gratitude for her daughter and son, 11-year-old Lucas, who also helped alert the family.

In the face of uncertainty, Lizzy's actions have been nothing short of heroic. "She is our hero," Nena affirmed. "I’m thankful for Elizabeth and Lucas because we might have all died last night. My kids are our heroes right now."
