When glitz meets grit on the streets of LA, even reality stars aren't immune to the drama. Hollywood couturier Pol Atteu and his husband, Patrik Simpson, found themselves in a real-life thriller on Melrose Avenue. As they drove their Mercedes, a man in a Toyota 4Runner cut them off and launched a terrifying attack on their car.
Simpson and Atteu, celebrated for their A-list clientele – think Carrie Underwood and the late Anna Nicole Smith – shared their frightening encounter. "I thought he was gonna kill us," Atteu recounted. "I thought I was going to die."
"We were literally like trapped rats. And then he came running towards the car and I saw my life flash before my eyes," Simpson added.
Despite their star power, the couple faced a frustrating response from local authorities. While calling 911, they were advised to stop following the assailant's car, shifting potential blame back to them. "It was like they were trying to turn it around and say that we were in the wrong," Simpson said.
With no immediate help, they resorted to filing a report online, highlighting their disdain for the process. "In this day and age, you have to be your own champion," expressed Simpson, emphasizing the need for personal accountability.
This isn't Atteu's first brush with danger in the City of Angels. Back in 2019, he was attacked during a charity fashion show by an enraged father, which they later pushed to be prosecuted as a hate crime. Despite some justice served, the couple feels there's a growing boldness among criminals, partly due to perceived leniency.
Their personal experiences – from a home burglary to the recent road rage – echo the concerns of many Angelenos. "I've been living in Los Angeles my whole life and it's become so much more dangerous," Atteu lamented. "People figure the police aren't gonna show up, so who cares?"
Yet, despite these brushes with crime, Simpson and Atteu, stars of Amazon Prime's "Gown and Out in Beverly Hills," refuse to retreat from public life. "We're not gonna stop living our life in the public," Simpson affirmed. Their goal is to spotlight the crime issues plaguing their beloved city, hoping to spark a change in the City of Angels.
