Los Angeles was buzzing this past week with news that the serene streets of Hollywood were shaken by a shocking incident at the home of pop sensation Rihanna. Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, a 35-year-old from Florida, has been charged with attempted murder following a wild shooting spree at the singer’s lavish LA residence.
The drama unfolded on 8 March, around 1:20 pm, when Ortiz allegedly fired several shots at the mansion while Rihanna and her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, were reportedly inside. Fortunately, no one was injured, despite numerous bullets striking the gate and entrance. "Opening fire in any populated neighborhood is extremely dangerous, puts lives at risk and will be fully prosecuted," stated Nathan J. Hochman, the Los Angeles County District Attorney.
“This careless violence will not be tolerated in our community. Such shooters will find their next destination to be our jails and prisons," Hochman added.
Ortiz's actions seem to have been provoked by a long history of online harassment targeting Rihanna. The LAPD has confirmed that Ortiz had been persistently stalking the pop icon on social media, hoping to provoke a response. In one particularly unsettling post, Ortiz taunted, "Are you there?... say something to me directly instead of sneaking around like you talking to me where I'm not at."
The obsession didn't stop at Rihanna. Ortiz also launched baseless accusations, claiming the singer was involved in witchcraft and had AIDS. She even expanded her targets to other celebrities, slamming Cardi B and insulting Kim Kardashian in separate social media outbursts.
Ortiz's unsettling behavior wasn't limited to online rants. In 2025, she attempted to thwart a Billie Eilish concert in Orlando, arguing that the performance lacked a proper permit. This incident paints a broader picture of obsessive fan behavior, echoing the dangers of 'stan' culture, a term that gained notoriety after Eminem's hit single in 2000.
Rihanna, no stranger to security threats, faced a similar ordeal in 2018 when a stalker breached her Hollywood Hills home. With Ortiz now in custody, facing a possible life sentence and a hefty bail set at $1.88 million, the Hollywood community hopes for a return to the calm, sun-drenched safety of LA's celebrity enclaves.
