It's been over three decades since Hollywood powerhouse Ryan Seacrest walked the halls of Dunwoody High School in Georgia, but his legacy there is about to become larger than life. The school's football stadium will soon bear his name, a fitting tribute to a hometown hero who's made mega waves in the entertainment world.
The Seacrest Stadium was given the green light by the DeKalb County School Board's naming committee on December 8, 2025, marking the culmination of two decades of dedication by Ryan and his family. This project was especially meaningful for Ryan, as it involved his late father, Gary Seacrest, who was a driving force in the effort.
“The new Seacrest Stadium will give Dunwoody something it has never truly had – a home field worthy of its pride and tradition,” said the Bring it Home Committee.
Ryan's connection to Dunwoody runs deep. As a teenager, he made his mark by transforming the school's morning announcements into a full broadcast show, showcasing his early knack for media. Now, the community is rallying to raise $1.5 million for enhanced facilities at the Seacrest Stadium through the Bring it Home project.
Local parents and community members are spearheading this initiative, aiming to fund enhancements that will allow the stadium to host graduations, pep rallies, and more. Their vision is to create a vibrant space that energizes students and gives the school's athletes, band, and cheer teams the spotlight they deserve.
Ryan's journey from Dunwoody to Hollywood is the stuff of dreams. After a stint at the University of Georgia, he headed west to Los Angeles, where he now commands the airwaves on iHeartMedia's 102.7 KIIS-FM and hosts On Air with Ryan Seacrest. His big break came in 2002 when he started co-hosting American Idol, catapulting him to worldwide fame.
In addition to his radio and TV gigs, including a six-year run alongside Kelly Ripa on Live, Ryan now helms Wheel of Fortune, the second most popular syndicated show in the United States. It's a long way from his days as "The Voice of Dunwoody," but his roots remain a cherished part of his story.
As Dunwoody gears up for its new era with Seacrest Stadium, it celebrates a hometown hero who's brought a touch of Hollywood magic back to Georgia.
