Sara Foster and Tommy Haas are still sharing a home nearly two years after their split. During a vibey chat on Kristin Cavallari’s "Let’s Be Honest" podcast on Tuesday, June 30, Foster, 45, got candid about their unusual setup. “It’s such an interesting [thing],” she shared. "I’m not dating. I mean, I’m sure he is."
Foster revealed that Haas, 48, a former tennis star, is often on the road due to his career and his heart isn’t exactly in LA. “His comfort level is being on the road," she added. "We have breakfast when he’s in town. We have breakfast and dinner with our kids every day. … It’s not for everybody.”
“There’s something to be said about slowly transitioning,” Foster noted. “Nothing crazy happened. I think you, kind of, grow differently.”
The pair, who never tied the knot, ended their nearly 20-year relationship back in August 2024, and they're parents to daughters Valentina, 15, and Josephine, 10. Foster said their breakup wasn’t sparked by any major drama, but rather a slow realization. "I remember, I feel like he looked at me once, and I was like, ‘Oh, he does not respect me anymore.’ Once you can see someone looking at you with a certain eye, you’re kind of like, ‘Oh, God.’”
Despite the shift in their relationship, Foster only has good things to say about her ex, describing him as a person with immense integrity. "You will never meet anyone that has a bad thing to say about him," she praised.
Breaking the news to their kids was a challenge, especially when it hit the public before they could have "the talk." “We had never actually sat down and been like, ‘This is how it’s gonna look,’” she admitted. Their children didn't view them as the ideal future couple, which was tough. “Our kids don’t look at us with those eyes of, ‘This is what I hope to have one day.’ And that is not good.”
Foster expressed a bit of regret over their approach with their daughters but finds beauty in their gradual transition. "We didn’t handle it the way it should be handled, so I don’t even want to tell people how we handled it," she reflected. "There’s been a real beauty in doing it slowly for us.”
