SNL's Wild Ride – Drunk Raccoon and Sharp Humor

Sarah Sherman sure knows how to bring the house down with her knack for physical comedy. During Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update, she transformed into a drunk raccoon – a clever nod to a headline-grabbing raccoon incident in Virginia, where the furry bandit raided a liquor store and wound up inebriated in the restroom. Talk about stealing the spotlight!

Sherman didn’t stop there. She dished out laughs with zingers aimed at Donald Trump, playfully telling host Colin Jost, "quiet, piggy," in a cheeky callback to a notorious comment made by Trump. Her hilarious take on raccoons as "the Sarah Shermans of the forest" was the comedic cherry on top.

“There was never a minute in my life where I didn’t want to be a comedian,” Sherman told Interview Magazine, shedding light on her lifelong passion for humor.

Diving into Sarah's Psychedelic World on HBO Max

For those craving more of Sherman's unique flavor of comedy, her special, *Sarah Squirm: Live + in the Flesh*, is now streaming on HBO Max. Premiering on December 12, the special is a whirlwind of psychedelic body horror mixed with circus delights. With an appearance by the legendary filmmaker John Waters, Sherman explores themes like the "horrors of having a female body" and embraces a "very sex-negative" stance, as she described to Interview Magazine.

The Roots of a Comedic Force

Sherman's journey began in Great Neck, New York, where she grew up in a vibrant, boisterous Jewish family. She shared with Variety that her bat mitzvah, falling on April Fools’ Day, was a "gift from God" – she even sent out snake-filled can invitations!

Her path to comedy was lined with colorful experiences, from her first open mic at The Hog Pit in NYC to her college days at Northwestern University studying theatre. After moving to Chicago post-graduation, she was a staple at basement shows with bands like Piss Piss Piss Moan Moan Moan. It was at one of her iconic Helltrap Nightmare shows that SNL discovered her talent, eventually landing her a spot on the legendary show.

With her star on the rise, Sarah Sherman continues to captivate audiences with her bold humor and fearless performances. From the streets of NYC to the stages of LA, she's a comedic force to watch.
