Spencer Pratt's Political Ambitions Fall Short

Spencer Pratt, known for his reality TV fame, has finally spoken out after bowing out of the high-stakes race for Los Angeles mayor. Initially holding second place behind incumbent Karen Bass following the June 2 election, Pratt's hopes were dashed as more votes were counted, revealing City Council Member Nithya Raman as the new frontrunner. In true California fashion, the state permitted mail-in ballots to be submitted up until Election Day, making for a nail-biting wait. Late Monday afternoon, with just 8 percent of the ballots left to count, the Associated Press confirmed Raman would be advancing to face Bass on November 3.

A Social Media Question Marks the Occasion

On Thursday, Pratt took to social media with a straightforward yet telling tweet: “Are they done counting yet?” This pithy remark resonated with many locals still buzzing from the election's unexpected twists and turns.

According to NBC News, Bass currently leads with 291,397 votes (34.3 percent), while Raman gathered 246,333 votes (29 percent) and Pratt collected 216,783 (25.5 percent). Pratt's decision to run was partly fueled by dissatisfaction with Bass' handling of local issues, notably his own home's destruction in last year's Palisades Fire.

Hollywood's Response and Pratt's Next Steps

The results didn't go unnoticed in the entertainment world. On "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", the host humorously poked fun at Pratt’s campaign promises, suggesting a U-Haul might be necessary for his departure from Los Angeles. Pratt, quick to the punch, replied on Instagram with a poignant video of his ravaged home, saying, “Jimmy Kimmel I guess you missed the part of the story I don’t need a U-Haul… I have nothing left to pack.”

Pratt's campaign was backed by notable figures, including President Donald Trump, Joe Rogan, Dennis Quaid, and Paris Hilton. Despite the loss, his mayoral run has certainly kept L.A. talking, and one can only wonder what his next move will be under the SoCal sun.
