Sydney Sweeney Lights Up the Red Carpet

Sydney Sweeney made a daring fashion statement at Variety’s Power of Women event on Wednesday, October 29, confidently taking center stage at the renowned Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles. The Euphoria star, at 28 years old, was among the evening's honorees, sharing the spotlight with fellow luminaries such as Kate Hudson, Wanda Sykes, Nicole Scherzinger, and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Draped in a breathtaking Christian Cowan x Elias Matso gown, Sweeney dazzled in a crystal-studded number from the designer's Spring/Summer 2026 collection. The sheer ensemble, with its twisted waist design, struck the perfect balance between boldness and elegance – a fusion that resonated with the glamour of old Hollywood while embracing the modern chic. Complimenting the gown, her sleek blonde bob, subtle blush, and nude lips enhanced her luminous look.

The Star's Candid Reflection on Hollywood Standards

Before the glamorous affair, Sweeney opened up to Variety about the challenges she faced with Hollywood's beauty ideals. "I had someone tell me to fix my face or else I’m not going to make it. I should get Botox. I was 16!" she confided.

“I’ve never gotten anything done. I’m absolutely terrified of needles. No tattoos. Nothing. I’m going to age gracefully,” she affirmed, standing firm in her resolve to stay true to her natural self.

Amidst her candid revelations, Sweeney also shared anecdotes of her early struggles at auditions. "Or I’m in a casting, and I’m reading my scene and the casting director is eating a bag of chips, and I’m like, ‘You’re not paying attention at all,’” she recounted.

Redefining Confidence Beyond Labels

Addressing her public image, Sweeney spoke about being frequently labeled a "sex symbol," which she considers a misinterpretation of her characters and self-assuredness. "I play a lot of very divisive characters, and I think that a lot of people think they know me, but they don’t," she explained.

She further clarified, "So when people think, ‘Ah, she’s a sex symbol,’ or ‘She’s leaning into that,’ I’m like, ‘No, I just feel good and I’m doing it for myself and I feel strong.’"

With her outspoken honesty and grace, Sydney Sweeney is proving she's more than just a red-carpet sensation – she's a formidable voice challenging Hollywood stereotypes.
