Fear Factory's legendary guitarist, Dino Cazares, recently shed light on what's keeping the band's highly anticipated album on hold. In a candid chat with New Breed TV, Cazares laid out the band's dedication to ensuring the next record is nothing short of spectacular – a sentiment that resonates with their loyal fanbase.
Cazares acknowledged the mounting pressure from fans eager for new tracks, but emphasized the importance of not rushing the creative process. "A lot of people are, like, ‘Well, put out the record, put out the record.’ We don’t wanna rush. We want it to be the shit, because this record, when it comes out, it’s gonna be forever," explained Cazares.
“So I wanna be able to live with a dope-ass record than something that’s rushed because somebody wants us to put it out quickly. Although I enjoy the enthusiasm with the fans because they pester me every day. But it’s a good pester, and I enjoy it. So I really appreciate that, because it really tells me that they’re ready for it.”
Central to this album's delay is the desire to give new vocalist Milo Silvestro the room he needs to shine. As this is Silvestro's inaugural record with the band, making sure his debut is impactful is a priority.
Cazares shared insights comparing Silvestro to former vocalist Burton C. Bell, highlighting both familiar tones and fresh elements. "There are elements where it’s, like, okay, Milo sounds very similar to Burt, but there’s other parts where he just sounds like it’s a whole new thing, which adds a whole new freshness to the songs," said Cazares.
This album is a milestone for Fear Factory, marking their first project without Burton C. Bell amidst his departure in 2020. Recorded in a Los Angeles studio helmed by Cazares and drummer Mike Heller, the album represents a bold step forward in the band’s legacy.
Following their sold-out 2022 reunion tour, the band hit the studio in 2024 to craft their 11th studio album. With an eye towards the future, Fear Factory is exploring new sonic territories while staying true to the industrial metal sound that fans adore.
This is more than just another album; it’s a testament to Fear Factory's resilience and adaptability. As they navigate industry shifts and embrace new dynamics, the band promises an electrifying blend of aggressive verses, melodic choruses, and innovative sounds – keeping the heart of Fear Factory beating strong.
