Hannah Einbinder Takes a Stand

Following last night’s emotional series finale of “Hacks,” the show's star, Hannah Einbinder, is making headlines for her outspoken comments against Spencer Pratt's unexpected bid to become Los Angeles' next mayor.

Einbinder shared her thoughts with Variety’s Marc Malkin during the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of LGBTQ+ Cinema & Television here in the City of Angels. "There’s a lot of wealth in this city and I think that there are a lot of people who masquerade as Democrats or people on the left, but really, money is their key issue and that’s what leads them to vote for people like Spencer Pratt – who is endorsed by Donald Trump," Einbinder explained. "It’s important to resist that."

“It’s important to resist that.”

Pratt's Political Push

Spencer Pratt, known for his antics on MTV’s “The Hills,” has stirred the political scene with his campaign to unseat incumbent Mayor Karen Bass. Having lost his home in the catastrophic L.A. wildfires, Pratt has been gathering support from a blend of celebrities and right-leaning political figures.

But not everyone is onboard with Pratt’s political ambitions. Einbinder, in her pragmatic way, has thrown her support behind Nithya Raman instead of Rae Huang, acknowledging the complexities of local politics: "It’s very complicated. No one is perfect, there are no perfect candidates. I’m underwhelmed in a lot of ways but I have made the choice to put Nithya down, and that’s what we’re doing girls!"

Lisa Rinna and the Reality Check

In a humorous twist, when Malkin suggested that Einbinder could run for office herself, she quipped, "You don’t and neither do I. No! Spencer shouldn’t and neither should I, OK? I’m with Lisa Rinna, I stand with Lisa Rinna."

Lisa Rinna, who also weighed in on the mayoral race with Variety, shared, "Not a reality star, though. I love him [Pratt], but we’ve already done that. We’re not going to do that again.”

Einbinder, never one to shy away from political discourse, also emphasized the importance of the L.A. city council races amidst the glitz of Hollywood. "Yes, mayor is important, the mayor proposes the budget, but the city council has to vote to pass it. It’s really important to be focused on those races as well," she advised.
