"Sex and the City" star Jason Lewis, who once played Samantha Jones' charming boyfriend, Smith Jerrod, has finally stepped back into the limelight after a three-year hiatus. The 54-year-old actor took to Instagram Wednesday, sharing a cryptic video of himself strolling along the beach. He teased his followers with a hint of what's been keeping him busy all this time.

"I went quiet," Lewis explained, "not because I have nothing to say, but because I had something to do."

“The kind of creative work that doesn’t leave room for much else, and I made my peace with that,” Lewis added. "It's the kind of work that needs to find its people, though."

Despite keeping the details under wraps, Lewis did hint that he's "still in it" but now feels it's the right moment to share his journey. His caption simply read, "After three years, it was time."

A Journey from Dance Floors to Creative Depths

Before retreating from the public eye, Lewis was last spotted on our screens in 2022, competing in Season 31 of "Dancing with the Stars". Partnered with the talented Peta Murgatroyd, they were the first couple sent home. Lewis had revealed that his engagement to actress Liz Godwin was the nudge he needed to finally say yes to the show.

“This year, when the offer came in, my fiancée asked me to be a little less pigheaded and at least take a look at a show,” Lewis shared with People magazine. He was "awestruck" by the dancers’ talents and found the show "incredibly beautifully done."

Lewis, who captured hearts as the young male model Smith Jerrod on "Sex and the City" and its film sequels, has not been a part of the show's recent reboot, "And Just Like That." Back in 2021, he told the Daily Front Row that he hadn’t been approached to join the series.

“As much as I appreciate the flattery, the conversation is about the girls,” he candidly stated.

His last major acting role was in the NBC supernatural series "Midnight, Texas" back in 2018. While fans eagerly await what's next, Lewis' latest cryptic message has everyone buzzing and speculating about his new creative endeavor.
