Hollywood Meets Politics in L.A. Mayoral Drama

If you're in Los Angeles, where the Hollywood stars are as familiar as the Santa Monica Pier, it's no surprise when showbiz and politics collide. "The Real Housewives" favorite Lisa Rinna stirred up some serious SoCal buzz when she commented on Spencer Pratt's potential mayoral run. Rinna, who knows a thing or two about the rollercoaster of reality TV fame, expressed her skepticism about another reality star breaking into politics.

Rinna, who celebrated her 62nd birthday just a while back, told Variety at the American Music Awards that she's not thrilled with the idea of reality stars stepping into the political limelight again. "Not a reality star, though," she remarked. "I’m sorry. I love him, but we’ve already done that. We’re not going to do that again."

"[He] could be," Rinna conceded. "He’s got power behind him, it seems. But I don’t know."

Spencer Pratt – More Than Just a Reality Star?

Spencer Pratt, known for his role on "The Hills," did not take Rinna's comments lightly. He fired back with a pointed response targeted at L.A.'s current mayor, Karen Bass. In a bold statement on X, he highlighted a controversial past event involving Bass, suggesting his reality TV past pales in comparison.

Pratt reminded his audience that in his twenties, he was simply gaining notoriety on TV, whereas Bass, according to him, was involved in more politically charged activities. “Even though I may not have been the most likable character, it was still TV," Pratt stated, emphasizing a stark difference in their histories.

The Wildfire Catalyst and Political Ambitions

The backdrop to Pratt's political ambitions is nothing short of dramatic. After losing his home in the devastating 2025 Palisades wildfire, Pratt announced his candidacy for mayor on January 7. At an event marking the fire's anniversary, aptly titled "They Let Us Burn!," he was vocal about his criticisms of California's government.

Pratt has been an outspoken critic of Governor Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass, blaming them for inadequate fire prevention efforts. His activism post-fire led to a lawsuit against the city of L.A., holding local entities accountable for the mishandling of critical firefighting resources.

Rinna’s comments and Pratt's fiery rebuttal have Twitter ablaze, with one user calling Hollywood a "clown show," while others question whether it's time for a fresh face to tackle L.A.'s challenges. Whether or not Pratt will get a chance to sit in the mayoral seat, he's already stirred the pot in true Hollywood fashion.
