It’s official, folks! Mary Bonnet, one of the OG faces of Netflix's 'Selling Sunset,' has announced she's stepping away from the show. Since 2019, Mary has been a staple at The Oppenheim Group, bringing her real estate prowess to the glitzy streets of Los Angeles. However, the winds of change are blowing, and Mary has decided it's time to move on, citing dissatisfaction with the show's evolving direction.
“At the end of season 9, you can see that I'm not, I'm not okay with the direction that the office is going, that the show is going,” Mary shared with People.
Mary's decision to exit wasn’t made lightly. She joined 'Selling Sunset' with hopes of showcasing women empowerment and positive vibes in the real estate scene. But according to Mary, the show took a detour from this vision. She expressed concerns about the "extremely unfair" editing of season 9, which she felt depicted her unfairly and out of context, painting a picture she found "extremely damaging."
Despite her departure, Mary remains the vice president of The Oppenheim Group, continuing her role in the bustling LA real estate market. And while she won’t be gracing our screens in season 10, she hinted at a possible return in future series.
As the 'Selling Sunset' saga continues, more cast changes are on the horizon. Alongside Mary's exit, Emma Hernan, Chelsea Lazkani, and Sandra Vergara are also reportedly not returning for the next season. Chrishell Stause and Nicole Young have confirmed their departures as well. Chrishell, while speaking to Bustle, said, “I’ve gotten to a place where I don’t need the show financially." She emphasized that her mental health took precedence, appreciating the opportunities the show had provided, despite leaving under less-than-ideal circumstances.
With the cast shake-up keeping fans on their toes, Netflix has yet to reveal the final lineup for the upcoming season of 'Selling Sunset.' The drama continues, and as always in LA, the real estate game is never short of surprises!
