The actress and director, known for her roles in films like "Don't Worry Darling," revealed how her initial impression of Musk has soured over the years, describing him now as a "creature" she deeply resents.

From Inspiration to Disdain

Wilde shared that her exploration of misogyny in her past works, including the character inspiration from conservative commentator Jordan Peterson, influenced her perception of societal dynamics. "I was disturbed by what I saw as this kind of misogynistic philosophy that was being obviously weaponized," Wilde noted, referring to the political climate that saw Donald Trump's presidency.

In "Don't Worry Darling," one of the themes explores the delusion of power some men hold, linking it to Musk's obsession with population collapse. Wilde openly criticized Musk, saying, "I really resent him now. I really deeply resent him," after having met him "many, many years ago."

"I met him many, many years ago before he turned into this creature," Wilde recounted, reflecting on their early interactions.

Memories of the Early Days

Reflecting on their past encounter, Wilde recalled meeting Musk when SpaceX was relatively new in Los Angeles, a decision that brought the tech mogul closer to Hollywood's glitz and glamour. At that time, Musk had expressed interest in funding a humanitarian cause Wilde was part of in Haiti. "He was quite interested in donating money, and I believe he did donate a little bit of money, and that's appreciated," she noted, though she admitted she found him a bit perplexing even then.

Looking back, Wilde admits she couldn't have anticipated the path Musk would eventually take. "But I was kind of confused by him.
