Jonah Hill, the beloved star of "Superbad," has always been known for his larger-than-life comedic roles, but recently, he made a move that surprised many fans. During a live taping of the SmartLess podcast on Saturday, April 25, the 42-year-old actor candidly discussed why he chose to leave the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles behind. Hill, alongside his wife Olivia Millar, relocated to a quaint town in San Diego three years ago, seeking a more serene environment to raise their child.
“So I live in a very small town in San Diego, and it’s amazing, and my neighbors are incredible people,” Jonah revealed, as noted by People. Hill seemed genuinely thrilled with his new life, expressing how moving away from the city has positively impacted his family life. He shared that the community’s warmth has been a refreshing change. "I wanted to leave L.A. and raise a family outside of Los Angeles," he said, highlighting the kind nature of his "cool" neighbors.
“They never treat me weird or ask me about my job or anything. And my neighbor is one of my great friends, Dr. Sean, he never asked. He’s here tonight. He never bothered me or was like, ‘Oh, what’s this person like?’ ”
Reflecting on his upbringing in LA, Jonah reminisced about the city’s vibrant scene in the '90s. "I grew up here. L.A. was such a cool place to grow up in the ’90s because you could go skateboard downtown or you could sneak into a movie premiere or you could go sneak into a comedy club and see Chris Rock or something," he mused. Jonah fondly recalled access to the entertainment world, mingled with the underground culture of punk and skateboarding before the digital age took over.
Hill’s transition mirrors a growing trend among celebrities seeking solace outside Hollywood’s glitz. With stars branching out into other careers or simply finding peace in quieter locales, Jonah Hill’s story is a testament to the ever-changing landscape of celebrity life.
