Five Finger Death Punch's guitarist, Zoltan Bathory, is taking fans on a wild ride down memory lane, recounting the band's early chaos with a dash of rock and roll drama. Sharing tales from behind the scenes, Bathory opened up about the band's notorious early years and the surprising intervention from Mötley Crüe's own Nikki Sixx.
“It’s amazing that we’ve managed to stay around for 20 years and actually build a legacy,” Bathory said. “You know, sometimes I’m standing on stage in front of 50,000 people and I’m just shaking my head. I’m like, what is this? I’m just making noise, right? I can’t believe you get paid for this shit.”
The guitarist reminisced about the band's incredible two-decade journey, marvelling at their success and longevity. Behind the scenes, though, was a whirlwind of drama and chaos – a storm that the band managed to keep out of the public eye for years.
Bathory didn't hold back from sharing the details of a significant moment with rock icon Nikki Sixx during a shared tour with Mötley Crüe. The veteran rocker, no stranger to rock excess himself, issued a stark warning to the band, urging them not to outdo Mötley Crüe's legendary antics.
Bathory recalled, “When we played with Mötley Crüe, Nikki came to our dressing room and said to us, ‘We did some dumb stuff in our career, but man, you guys need to step on the brakes!’” This unsolicited advice from Sixx highlighted the level of chaos enveloping the group at the time.
Fast forward to today, Five Finger Death Punch is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a slew of exciting projects. Their tenth studio album, aptly named Legacy, is set for release on July 31, 2026, alongside a major world tour. This milestone marks a new chapter for the band, showcasing their growth and resilience over the years.
To commemorate their anniversary, the band has also released Best Of – Volume 1, featuring re-recorded versions of fan-favorite tracks. They continue to maintain their philanthropic efforts, donating over a million dollars to various causes, including veterans' support and suicide prevention.
With all this momentum, Five Finger Death Punch is proving they're in no hurry to hit the brakes and are set to continue blazing their trail in the rock scene.
