Haley Joel Osment captured the hearts of millions as the intuitive young boy in 'The Sixth Sense.' But before that, at just five, he appeared in 'Forrest Gump' alongside Tom Hanks, playing the adorable Forrest Junior. Despite reaching such great heights at a young age, Osment chose to take a step back from the Hollywood spotlight, making a bold move to New York in 2006. This decision was wholeheartedly supported by his family, who often reassured him that he could quit whenever he stopped having fun.

“My parents used to say when I first started out in this industry, 'If it's ever not fun, you can quit tomorrow,'” the 36-year-old told E! News.

During his 15-year stint in New York, Osment honed his craft at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, diving deep into theater studies and contemplating the future of his career.

Embracing Change and New Opportunities

Though he left Los Angeles, Osment didn’t entirely step away from the entertainment industry. Instead, he explored various avenues like video games and TV shows, even while being grateful for staying out of the relentless Los Angeles tabloid culture. "It was a very predatory, aggressive kind of tabloid engagement with certain celebrities," Osment recounted.

Recently, the actor returned to the Hollywood scene with roles in 'Happy Valley 2' and the hit series 'Wednesday.' Adaptation wasn't always smooth, especially with the rise of social media. Yet, eventually, Osment found his groove, enjoying the platform without letting it consume his personal life.

Back in the Spotlight

Now with over 141k Instagram followers, Osment has embraced the digital age, sharing glimpses of his personal adventures, like a recent trip to Belize with his sister, Emily Osment, known for her role in 'Hannah Montana.'

Adding to his achievements, Osment was recently honored with the Spotlight Presentation: Craft in Focus Award at the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival. His latest film, 'How to Date Again,' premiered at the event, marking another milestone in his continuously evolving career.
